Mountain Lodge

Maweni is an old colonial farm in stunning surroundings near Soni in the Usambara Mountains. Located under a vertical cliff among giant rocks – Maweni is Swahili for “by the rocks” – with a lush park-like garden surrounding a pond. The Usambaras offer great walking through a varied mountain landscape with friendly villages, dark rainforests and views over the rest of Africa. Sleep well in cool mountain air, wake up to the sounds of birds, eat a healthy breakfast with the monkeys watching from the nearest trees. Explore the next ridge or valley.
